IBAAS GAMI 2019 Special session on Aluminium

International Bauxite, Alumina, & Aluminium Society (IBAAS) in collaboration with Guiyang Aluminum & Magnesium Design Institute Co. Ltd (GAMI), the leading Aluminium Design Centres of China, is organising 8th IBAAS International Conference & Exhibition (IBAAS–GAMI-2019) in Guiyang, China during September 4 - 6, 2019. The theme of the IBAAS-GAMI-2019 Conference & Exhibition is “Technological Advances in Alumina, Aluminium Smelter, Downstream Operations, Energy Conservation, Environmental Control and Intelligent Manufacturing with Special Reference to China” .
Demand of Aluminium is continuously increasing thanks to higher consumption in transportations, electronics, building & construction, and power. Aluminium extrusions are widely used in transportation, packaging, construction, electronics industry, etc. Out of these, the construction industry has the largest downstream market, which accounts for 60-70% of the consumption. While, aluminium smelting route is the major source of aluminium, closed loop economy for aluminium has great benefits, both for resource conservation and for minimizing the environmental impacts. Aluminium recycling rates are steadily increasing, and secondary aluminium contributes significant share in the global aluminium consumption. Aluminium billets from both primary and secondary (recycled) sources are widely used in the extrusion industry. Performance of the billets in the extrusion industry is measured in terms of speeds, surface finish and mechanical properties, effect on tooling etc., however, it is general perception that the quality and productivity parameters achievable using primary billets are different from that of secondary billets. Considering these aspects, IBAAS-GAMI 2019 will have dedicated special session on Aluminium Extrusion with emphasis on permeance of billets and its dependence on the source. This special session will cover the following broad area:
  • Billet Performance: Key Characteristics
  • Key Issues with Usage of Secondary Billets
  • New Technology: Billet Casting/Recycling, Extrusion, Tooling, Process
  • Mitigating the Gap Between Primary and Secondary
  • Product Standardisation
We invite members from industries, academic Institutes & research organizations to actively participate in this session to discuss the present technological challenges with usage of secondary billets and way forward to meet the expectations of consumers.
Important Dates: Deadlines for abstract and final manuscript (in English)
  • Topic with Abstract: April 30, 2019
  • Final manuscript: June 30, 2019
For young specialists and students, a special Poster Session will be organized to present poster papers at the venue of conference.
